Dear SHPE:
We hope the semester is going well. As students struggle with a tough economy, scholarship information is always in high demand, therefore the Frontier Fiesta Association would like to highlight a scholarship opportunity.
The Frontier Fiesta Association is committed to providing scholarships to students that illustrate outstanding academic achievement or service to the community. For students to be eligible for either category, they must meet all the following requirements:
1. Applicants must attend the University of Houston in the Fall 2011 semester
2. Applicants must submit all material in ONE envelope
3. *NOTE* A new requirement in the application process requires basically 4 copies of each document. Hence, it is acceptable to
receive unofficial copies in order to make the application more accessible financially
To raise funds for the scholarships, our organization hosts Frontier Fiesta. This incredible event, dating back to the 1940's, is designed to promote scholarship, community, family and education. Each year, a part of campus is transformed into a fully functional town. This three day event includes a Cook-Off competition, the best live music in Houston, carnival booths, special events, variety shows, and Family Fun Day. This year's Frontier Fiesta will be on March 24th-27th.
The attachment details specific requirements for each scholarship category. The deadline for the postmark of applications and supporting material is February 14, 2011 or they can be dropped off at the front desk of the Center for Student Involvement in the University Center, Underground. If you have questions or require additional information or materials, please do not hesitate to call us at (713) 743-5181. A copy of the attached application in a writable PDF format can also be found at www.uh.edu/fiesta.
Thank you for your assistance,
